Known as a mixing white, Zinc White is one third the opacity of Titanium White, this allows for stronger, translucent tints to be mixed creating a subtle and luminous quality. The addition of a pin head size amount of Zinc White to each colour layer will identitfy that specific colour in multiple colour glazes.
'The whitest of all whites', Titanium is incredibly opaque and its covering power and resistance to yellowing, makes it a popular choice. Mixed with colours creates opaque pastel shades as compared to the luminous quality of the Zinc White.
Titanium White 2
The Titanium #2 is milled for a longer time, combined with more pigment and less oil, this makes for a heavy bodied paint ideal for impasto effects. This replaces the toxic flake white ( lead white)
Underpainting dries quicker than other whites. Used straight from the tube this fast drying oil-resin white is ideal for priming and underpainting.

Keep your drawings on the paper, here's 3 reasons why using Fixative works…
Working with Workable Fixative
This product has been specially developed for Charcoal, Pastel and Pencil drawing and layouts.
It's use provides a clear protective coating that can be worked over, to prevent dusting and smudging.
Avoid using a substitute Hair spray product that will discolour and disintegrate- its for Hair after all.
Fragility of Drawing Materials
Soft Pastels: Made from finely ground pigments, mixed with a base of clay or chalk, are held together
with a gum to form a stiff paste. This material is then cut, shaped into sticks and then allowed to harden.
Along with the smooth soft quality of the pastel that is pigment rich, comes the drawbacks of the stick
crumbling and breaking easily and smudging. A light spray of workable Fixative after each stage of work
will help prevent smudging.
Preservation and Framing
From a Framer's perspective, fixative serves Two important functions, firstly by providing a way to help
preserve the drawing and secondly by binding the pigment particles to the surface of the paper.
When Pastel and Charcoal artworks are taken through to being framed behind Glass, they are usually
hung on a Wall, when a pastel and charcoal work has not been fixed with an appropriate product,
the pigment dust literally falls of the surface of the paper.
The Mat window with its bottom bevel edge acts like a ledge, and drawing pigments, charcoal and pastel alike will
settle on and mark the surface of the Matboard.
